Your Role: As a Project / Senior Engineer, you'll bring 3-7 years of diverse project experience to our conservation engineering team. Chartered, or approaching chartership, you'll collaborate closely with an Associate - a Chartered Structural Engineer and Accredited Conservation Engineer. While experience with existing buildings is a plus it is not essential, we are seeking someone with a genuine passion for conserving our built heritage and creatively repurposing structures.

We offer a supportive environment for your professional growth, be it chartership or a longer term professional objective such as achieving conservation accreditation. Despite specialising within conservation and adaptive reuse, there will remain ample opportunity to work on new-build projects across the office, this is an important aspect of developing and maintaining your all-round engineering skills. We are seeking a skilled Bid Writer to join our team and contribute to our civil and structural engineering projects. Reporting directly to the Director responsible. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Team Leaders to manage and produce bids. This role involves working within tight deadlines while ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering innovation for maximum impact.

As a Bid Writer, you will play a crucial role in our business development activities. Your responsibilities will include leading day-to-day aspects of bids, providing writing input and editorial content, and liaising with project teams to develop compelling client-facing messaging. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate filing and storage of submissions, coordinating activities with regional and sector leads, and supporting the growth of effective client relationships. Additionally, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help maintain marketing materials and project data databases.

To excel in this role, candidates should possess extensive experience in preparing and managing bids and pre-qualification submissions within a technical sector. While a degree in construction or marketing is desirable, a minimum of ten years' experience in a design consultancy or construction-related company is essential. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, along with outstanding administrative management abilities and attention to detail. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in written English, including editing and proofreading, and exhibit excellent IT skills, in MS Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

This is a key, new role within the company. The successful applicant will be responsible for digitally transforming the design and other processes of the business. Creation of and launch of automated data exchange founded on data, ML /AI automated platform prototypes based on real-world construction industry situations/processes.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with University of Limerick and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria
Minimum 2:1 Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
Some knowledge in data structures, algorithms etc. (Database / SQL Experience preferred) and AI / AI prompt engineering.
Ability to work with datasets, perform data pre-processing and apply data visualisation techniques.
Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria
Digital:
Programming and scripting and or visual scripting skills, preferably in languages such as Python, Grasshopper, Dynamo, ArcGIS.
Proficiency with large datasets and data analysis, statistical modelling, and visualization techniques. Appreciation / experience with machine learning, optimization and computational design methods.

Construction:
Some knowledge of Civil and Structural Engineering principles, codes, and practices. Familiarity with AEC industry carbon / climate emergency standards such as SCORS rating.
Some knowledge of engineering software tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) software, CAD and BIM software.

General:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
