Design and Build contractor OHMG engaged Design ID for the structural and civil engineering design of Frederick Street Car Park - a mixed-use, mutli storey development comprising of 350 turn-key car-parking spaces, with 165 illuminated and secure bicycle parking spaces, together with a car park security office, and shell retail space.
The steelwork primary frame includes precambered composite steel beams spanning 16m and aluminium blade facade treatement. Being located on a brownfield site overlying Belfast sleech, a mini piled solution was adopted to avoid pile arisings, minimising the volume of contaminated material to be removed from site.
The development also includes soft landscaping with trees, shrubs, and climbing plants, forming a buffer between the proposed car park and the adjacent residential property. The car park also contains a store to accommodate the mechanical access platform for use primarily on the nearby university.
The works included signage, car parking equipment and associated site works outside the boundary of the site.
