Portglenone Riverside Path and Marina Improvements

Refurbishment | Marine
Portglenone Marina

The Portglenone Riverside Path and Marina project aims to enhance public access to the waterfront, improve marina facilities, and establish a direct pedestrian link between the marina and Portglenone Forest. The scheme is designed to increase visitor numbers, encourage outdoor recreation, and create a visually appealing and accessible route for locals and tourists. The development will celebrate the riverside environment, integrating key assets such as Our Lady of Bethlehem Abbey and providing significant social, economic, and environmental benefits for the area.

Key Aspects of the Project

• Marina Expansion: Increasing berth capacity to accommodate more boats and improve facilities for waterway users.

• Canoe Access Improvements: Upgrading canoe steps and adding a dedicated pontoon for safer and more accessible water access.

• Riverside Path Link: Creating a continuous pedestrian and cycle route blueway connecting the marina, Portglenone Forest, and key village landmarks.

• Environmental and Heritage Considerations: Preserving the natural setting, ensuring sustainable design, and integrating with historic sites such as the Bann Bridge and monastery.

• Infrastructure and Safety Enhancements: Providing safe access points, improved wayfinding, and high-quality surface materials to support multi-user functionality.
