Set on the slopes of Slieve Donard Mountain in County Down, the Community Hub building forms part of the wider YMCA outdoor residential centre . The Hub provides mixed-use space includes a multi-function hall, workshop area, café and kitchen area, locker rooms with unisex shower and changing cubicles for multi-sports, leisure and community activities. It also includes a unique teaching pool with shallow water so participants can train in water safety awareness.
The structure is a combination of load bearing masonry, steelwork and glulam beams within the pool hall. Feature timber pole bracing on the elevation is sourced from local Mourne Mountain forestry, tying the building into the surrounding forest.
