Sophie Hughes

Sophie is a Graduate Environmental and Sustainability Engineer at Design ID. She studied Environmental Science at Ulster University before completing a placement year with the university’s Estates team as a Sustainability Assistant an experience that strengthened her passion for environmental protection and inspired her to complete a Master’s in Global Strategies for Environmental Health and Sustainability.

She is a Graduate Member of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), reflecting her commitment to the responsible and sustainable management of environmental systems.

Since joining Design ID, Sophie has qualified as a Certified BREEAM Infrastructure Assessor, BREEAM New Construction Assessor and BREEAM Refurbishment and Fit-Out Assessor. She supports evidence‑based sustainability assessments across civil engineering, infrastructure, and public realm projects, as well as new‑build developments and the refurbishment of existing buildings.
