Design ID were the consulting structural engineers for the fit-out of the Halcyon Art Gallery at Harrods. The world-renowned department store is housed within a 19th Century Grade II* Listed building of special architectural and historical interest. Using our extensive experience working within grade listed buildings in London, Design ID undertook an assessment of the historic clay pot floors. and advised on suitable design of the fit-out elements. An approach of minimal intervention was adopted leading to creative, sensitive solutions.

The scope of works included supporting a new ceiling and service network from the existing filler joist floors, support of new lightweight partitions without requiring removal of the existing floorboards, and the inclusion of several designer items such as a minimalist bronze balustrade. The resulting design provided an open, flexible and stylish space.
