Design ID's Managing Director Jonathan Macauley was inspired to design and make the Arachnoid because of the lack of art on the M1 motorway, the main arterial route into Belfast. This piece was taken on a public 'day trip' of Belfast in a bid to heighten the public's awareness of art.
Not the most practical of things to do as it is over 14 feet wide and weighs 200kg! As seen in the images it has been exhibited at City Hall, Custom House Square, Lisburn's Island Arts Centre and National Botanical Gardens in Dublin.
