Ballynameen Bridge
Aug 31, 2018
This photo shows the beginning of our work to refurbish Ballynameen Bridge, which partially collapsed dramatically during the August 2017 floods. Part of the value we brought to the project was in saving 3 of the stone arch bridge spans, including two piers which required underpinning. The replacement spans are to be made of precast FlexiArch construction, clad in the same natural stone recovered from the collapsed structure. We hope overall the finished product will stand for at least another 120 years, and provide the same heritage aesthetics which the locals have enjoyed for their lifetimes.
