DD: 028 9592 4612

As a Principal Engineer at Design ID, Luke holds extensive experience in structural and civil engineering across rail, infrastructure and residential development. He studied Architectural Engineering at Cardiff University, graduating with a Master’s degree in 2013, and began his career with Atkins in Croydon, where he worked on bridge assessments, strengthening designs and multidisciplinary packages for the Crossrail outer station projects.

After relocating to Atkins’ Belfast office, Luke broadened his expertise in reinforced concrete water-retaining structures, retaining walls and foundation design, alongside continuing his work on bridge assessments. He joined Design ID in 2018 and became a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2022.

Luke brings a thoughtful, technically rigorous approach to design, drawing on his strong understanding of Network Rail processes to help unlock complex development sites. His work has facilitated the approval and delivery of several housing schemes located near rail assets, enabling clients to bring forward valuable land for much‑needed homes.

One of his favourite projects is the Howth Looped Paths scheme in Ireland, where he led the structural elements of a 7km cliffside trail regeneration. Luke proposed durable, best‑practice solutions for the challenging coastal environment, reflecting his practical, context‑sensitive approach to engineering.
