Yakunat Sankey

Yakunat is a Digital Automation Engineer at Design ID and holds a Master’s degree in Business Analytics from Queen’s University Belfast. He also holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Energy & Environmental Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University and the University of Sheffield, respectively. His multidisciplinary background provides a strong foundation in data analysis, optimisation and technical problem‑solving across engineering and digital domains.

He joined Design ID through the InterTrade Ireland Innovation Boost programme, which supports the company with innovation funding, training in innovation management from Queen’s University and academic mentoring from the University of Limerick. His work focuses on developing data‑driven and automated digital solutions that enhance efficiency, streamline workflows and support Design ID’s innovation strategy.

Yakunat brings experience across banking operations, renewable energy research and the education technology sector, where he previously led analytics and strategic expansion functions. His role at Design ID centres on applying advanced data analytics and automation techniques to improve processes and deliver scalable digital tools across the business.
