Rachel Shannon

Rachel is a Project Engineer at Design ID and holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture from Queen’s University Belfast. As part of her studies, she completed a year in industry on site with a contracting company, gaining practical experience on the delivery of a high‑rise student accommodation development. This exposure provided her with valuable insight into construction processes and how design decisions are implemented on site.

Rachel has been actively involved in the engineering community, serving as Secretary of the Queen’s Engineering Society from 2020 to 2021 and later as Chair of the Young Members Committee for the Northern Ireland Region of the Concrete Society from 2022 to 2024.

She brings a strong technical foundation, a collaborative approach and a commitment to developing her expertise in structural engineering as she contributes to project delivery within Design ID.
