Niamh graduated from Queen’s University in 2019, with a 1st Class MEng in Structural Engineering with Architecture and subsequently joined Design ID. Within the first 3 years of her professional career, Niamh has dived into a large variety of Civil Infrastructure works, including solving challenging temporary works design solutions, carrying out structural condition assessment surveys at various significant sites around the UK and Ireland, and project managing several assessment and repair frameworks. Niamh’s most notable projects to date include her role as Project Manager on the Translink Structures Examinations and Assessment Programme, and as Project Engineer on the Monaghan Regional & Local Roads Bridge Rehabilitation Works, Fermanagh Freshwater Lakes Boardwalks and Bridges Project, and the Blackwater Bridge Replacement Project. Niamh’s role on the Blackwater Bridge Replacement led to her success in the ICE (NI) graduate and student’s competition, where she was titled the regional Emerging Engineer Winner of 2021. Alongside Niamh’s dedication to her work, her steady involvement within the Institution of Civil Engineers has led to her promotion as Chairperson for the ICE Early Careers Network (NI) for 2022/23. Niamh is actively involved in advocating Civil/Structural Engineering to younger students in schools, and both university students and the early careers cohort alike. In her spare time, Niamh is actively involved with her local Gaelic football Club and holds numerous honours from her experience on both the County Monaghan Senior Ladies and Queen’s Ladies O’Connor Cup panels.
