Steve Gregan

As Director at Design ID Steve brings over 15 years’ experience delivering marine, civil and infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK and internationally, including South Africa, South America and the Middle East. As a Chartered Engineer he combines strong technical expertise with a commercial mindset shaped by both his engineering degrees from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from Trinity College Dublin. This blend of skills underpins his pragmatic, value‑focused approach to engineering and leadership.

Throughout his career, Steve has led multidisciplinary teams across all stages of project delivery, working closely with clients, contractors and stakeholders to develop solutions that balance buildability, cost, risk and long‑term performance. His experience spans major civil infrastructure, marine works, energy projects and complex urban sites, where he is known for clear communication, calm decision‑making and a focus on delivering efficient and sustainable outcomes.

Before joining Design ID, Steve held senior leadership roles with responsibility for growing business units, setting strategy and managing P&L performance, all while remaining hands‑on with live projects. He has also acted as PSDP and Employer’s Representative on a range of public and private sector contracts, giving him a broad understanding of project governance, compliance and client priorities.

At Design ID, Steve plays a key role in the development of the Dublin office, bringing a strong ambition to grow its presence, expand capability and build a team known for thoughtful, collaborative engineering.
