James is a Senior Associate at Design ID and leads the practice’s volumetric modular work, drawing on extensive experience delivering Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) projects across the UK. Since joining the London team, he has successfully delivered over 300 modular schemes spanning healthcare, education, justice, defence, residential and retail sectors. He has played a key role in developing structural design workflows that integrate seamlessly with the process‑driven systems used across the offsite construction industry.
A graduate of Imperial College London, James holds a master’s degree in civil engineering and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Before joining Design ID, he worked with Waterman Group, Price & Myers and later Walsh, where he specialised in high‑rise reinforced concrete structures for major London clients.
James has led the structural design on many notable modular projects, including Abbey Farm Primary School, the first modular school delivered under the Department for Education’s £3bn Off‑site Schools Framework, a multi‑award‑winning modular office for Imperial War Museum staff, Imjin Barracks Single Living Accommodation for the Armed Forces and an APV building at Stansted Airport.
