Chris Lumsden

As a Senior Associate at Design ID Chris has over 15 years’ experience in structural engineering across education, bespoke residential, leisure and
community projects. He has delivered designs for both public and private clients, with notable award‑winning work on Banbridge SRC and the redevelopment of the former Maysfield Leisure Centre into the Concentrix Europe headquarters.

Beginning his career with WDR&RT Taggart and Taylor & Boyd, Chris joined Design ID in 2011, steadily building a strong understanding of construction techniques in steel, concrete and timber. He has a particular interest in sustainable materials and has led the design of several timber frame and SIPS structures, bringing a lean, practical and environmentally conscious approach to his work.

Chris is also passionate about 3D modelling and visualisation to develop ideas, improve coordination and communicate clearly with contractors and design teams. Since becoming a Senior Associate in 2018, he has led technical structural design on a wide range of projects, earning a reputation for pragmatic thinking, calm problem‑solving and strong client relationships.
