We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to take on a leading role within our Structures Team. This is a key senior position where you will develop new workstreams, manage client relationships, oversee project delivery and champion technical excellence across a diverse range of engineering projects.
As a Senior Management Leader, you will guide a high-performing team, ensuring quality, innovation and efficiency at every project stage. You will lead the production and review of engineering reports, feasibility studies, specifications and detailed design work using industry‑standard software and modern design processes. You will ensure designs comply with statutory and regulatory requirements while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities and a passion for driving excellence within a growing and innovative engineering consultancy.
What You'll Do
▪ Leading a Structures Team and acting as the senior technical and managerial point of contact.
▪ Developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
▪ Overseeing the delivery of traditional and modular design work across feasibility, concept, detailed and construction support stages.
▪ Preparing and reviewing technical proposals, engineering reports, design specifications and calculations.
▪ Leading the development of detailed engineering designs using advanced software and modern processes.
▪ Ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and health, safety and environmental obligations.
▪ Managing team workloads, project deadlines and resource allocation to ensure efficient delivery.
▪ Providing leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineers, graduates and apprentices.
▪ Supporting collaboration across multidisciplinary teams throughout the organisation.
▪ Representing the company at client meetings, workshops and industry events.
▪ Undertaking additional duties that fall within the scope and level of the role.
What you'll Bring
Essential
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised professional institution.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience within the UK, Ireland or international engineering industry.
- Strong technical background with demonstrated delivery in the following areas:
– Steel and Concrete Frame Design
– Foundation Design
– Connection Design - Experience working across a variety of project sectors including education, healthcare, commercial and residential.
- Experience delivering projects from scheme design through to construction support.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Ability to lead teams, manage resources and coordinate multidisciplinary project inputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing communication and report writing.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain high-quality output.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience within an engineering team.
Desirable
- Experience developing new business workstreams, bids or service proposals.
- Experience in client care, account management or supporting business development.
- Strong understanding of modern construction methods and innovative engineering approaches.
- Experience working in a consultancy environment in a senior or management capacity.
- Ability to think strategically and contribute to team growth and development.
- Commitment to sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Experience working across multiple offices or within multi-location teams.
