Due to expansion across multiple sectors in Ireland, we are growing our Dublin team and are seeking to appoint a Senior Engineer / Principal Engineer to play a key role in the delivery and continued growth of our Irish business.

Some of the current areas we specialise in are: marine and coastal infrastructure, public realm and active travel schemes, transport infrastructure, bridges, ports, harbours and complex multidisciplinary developments.

What You’ll Do

  • This is a senior technical and leadership role for an experienced Senior or Principal Engineer who is either Chartered or approaching Chartership, combining hands-on engineering with project delivery, client engagement and team leadership.

  • You will take ownership of projects or major work packages from early-stage concept and planning through detailed design and construction. You will lead small project teams, mentor junior engineers, manage programme and budget, and work closely with Associates and Directors to shape project delivery and technical standards within the Dublin office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of either marine and coastal, civil, structural and infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK
  • Act as Lead Engineer / Project Manager on small to medium-sized projects, or lead significant work packages on larger schemes
  • Undertake, check and approve engineering design using Eurocodes and relevant Irish / UK standards
  • Oversee and review technical calculations, drawings, reports and specifications
  • Manage projects through planning and consenting, including statutory approvals, MARA consents and usage licences where required
  • Lead engagement with public and private clients, local authorities, architects, developers and contractors
  • Deliver projects under Irish Public Works Contracts (PWC), including the Capital Works Management Framework and PW-CF forms
  • Manage programme, budget and resourcing to ensure efficient and profitable delivery
  • Lead project QA, health & safety and sustainability considerations
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting technical and professional progression
  • Contribute to winning work, fee proposals and early-stage project development

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Degree or higher in Civil, Structural or Marine Engineering
  • Typically, 5+ years’ relevant experience in engineering consultancy or contracting
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng / MIEI / MIStructE or equivalent) — chartership is required for appointment at Principal level
  • Strong technical experience in one or more of the following:
  • Marine, coastal and port engineering
  • Public realm, active travel, greenways or blueway  
  • Roads, bridges, rail or general infrastructure

  • Excellent capability across either marine / civil / structural / geotechnical design
  • Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant Irish / UK standards

  • Oversee a consistent quality of output from team
