Design ID is a specialist civil, structural and infrastructure engineering consultancy delivering high-quality projects across Ireland and the UK. Our work spans marine and coastal infrastructure, public realm and active travel schemes, buildings, structures, transport infrastructure, bridges, ports, harbours and complex multidisciplinary developments.
Due to recent project wins across multiple sectors in Ireland, we are growing our Dublin team and are now looking to appoint a Project Engineer to play a key role in the delivery and continued growth of our Irish business.
What You'll Do
- This is a hands-on role for an ambitious engineer who wants real project exposure, not just calculations behind a desk.
- You’ll work across a wide range of infrastructure projects, supporting design delivery from concept through planning, detailed design and construction. You’ll be trusted with responsibility early, supported by senior engineers, associates and directors, and encouraged to grow both technically and commercially.

- Contribute to the design and delivery of marine and coastal, civil, structural and infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK
- Undertake engineering design using Eurocodes and relevant Irish / UK standards
- Prepare technical calculations, drawings, reports and specifications
- Support projects through planning and consenting to obtain permits and statutory approvals, including obtaining MARA consents and usage licenses
- Liaise with public and private clients, architects, developers and contractors
- Support Irish public works contracts (PWC) delivery (e.g. Capital Works Management Framework, PW-CF)
- Assist with site inspections, technical queries and construction support
- Contribute to project QA, health & safety and sustainability considerations
- Support senior engineers with programme, budget tracking, coordination and work winning
What You'll Bring
Essential
- Level 8 Degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Marine Engineering
- 2+ years’ relevant engineering consulting or contracting experience
- Experience (or strong interest) in one or more of the following:
- Marine, coastal and port engineering
- Public realm / active travel / greenways / blueways
- Roads, bridges, rail or general infrastructure
- Solid grounding in either marine / civil / structural / geotechnical design
- Working toward Chartered Engineer status (or planning to start)
Desirable
Technical Skills
- Understanding of engineering calculations and standards (Eurocode).
- Ability to prepare engineering reports and design deliverables
- Competent in design software relevant to the discipline
- Familiarity with Irish planning and approvals processes
- Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary consultancy environment
