Sarah McConville

Sarah joined the Design ID Team in 2024 as a Structural Engineer after earning a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering with Architecture from Queen’s University Belfast. Her unique journey began with a year of studying Architecture, which deepened her appreciation for aesthetic design and honed her ability to integrate architectural beauty with structural integrity. This experience sharpened her eye for detail, enabling her to excel in building design by combining artistic vision with engineering precision. Sarah's passion lies in creating structures that are not only robust but also visually appealing.

Prior to joining Design ID, Sarah gained valuable experience at Haworth McCall Consulting. During this time, she worked on a variety of small residential and commercial projects, honing her skills in design using AutoCAD and MasterSeries. Sarah's experience spans all major construction materials, giving her a well-rounded perspective in the field. Sarah believes that sketching and illustrating are essential tools for a structural engineer. She sees them as crucial for visualising connections and structural configurations, helping to effectively communicate ideas in the design process.
